On my ReadyNAS running 4. The next step is to install rTorrent from source and configuring it to run how you want it. You will be compiling two packages, libTorrent and rTorrent. Re: Magnet links on Readynas not working Post by blacke4dawn » Fri Mar 09, pm Technically speaking, since you aren't using Transmission itself to "read" the magnet links but a third party product then there is nothing that the Transmission devs can do about it, so I would rather take this to the one who makes the gui you use to communicate with your transmission installation. Re: Magnet links on Readynas not working Post by rb07 » Sat Mar 10, pm I agree with blacke4dawn , which in other words is saying: magnet association is something the transmission-daemon doesn't do.
To be clear, usually you have 3 choices to handle magnet and torrent association: you either let the application installer do it, you let the application do it, or you do it yourself. With the daemon running on a NAS there is obviously no installer and no application on your Mac, so options 1 and 2 are out of the picture.
Unless, like moonman and darrenbest suggested, you install something else which again could add the magnet association; but their suggestion was for Windows, I have no idea if there's something for the Mac does Transmission-Mac handle remote sessions? Then there is the third choice: do it yourself. I don't use or know Mac OSX, but from the experience of building an installer for Transmission-Qt for Windows, I can tell you there are 2 ways: at the OS level, and at the browser level.
Both need an application to use Re: Magnet links on Readynas not working Post by rb07 » Sun Mar 11, pm There are several with "remote" and "multi-platform" on the add-ons page I pointed out. Don't answer to me, I'm not the one looking for solutions, I don't have the problem. I can't seem to get any Magnet Link based downloads to actually download.
I have a range of BT ports specified in the settings. Still no downloads. I've tried turning of uPT, restarting, choosing different Magnet Links, etc.. Still no Download. I see I was not clear so I'll see if the below is giving more insight into my problem s. Thanks for the clarification regarding DHT. I did know it is not a requirement for all Magnet Links, I meant it is a requirement to have it enabled since some Magnet Links require it to be enabled.
I do understand the different between connecting to Trackers and connecting to "peers". My problem is not really connection to the tracker but actually I guess the peers. I don't seem to get good or any connections to any peers. Even if I have thousands of peers for a specific torrent. Anywhere this is or can be better logged somewhere?
I'm using Transmission 2.

It seems like this happens with a number of torrent links. For the most part, what I do is, after I click on the link and it's been added, I wait for about 5 seconds before I click on the OK button. That seems to help add it in. If all else fails, then yeah I have to download the torrent, then upload the torrent to the NAS for it to work. Message 31 of I cannot get torrents to be added to the Download Manager via the script.
I click on the. I then click OK and check the Download Manager, but there is nothing in there. Message 32 of I switched from trying mininova. I have the same issue when clicking links in FF3. Message 33 of I'd like to 2nd the request for the ability to hide the monitor. Hiding the monitor would be nice a feature. I've also had problems with links from btjunkie Pirate bay links work okay for me though.
I get the Torrent added but it never shows. Even cutting and pasting the linking into the download manager doesn't work. Would it be possible to get the script to save the torrent file to a directory and then use the upload add from file option in the download manager? This always seems to work for me in the download manager. Thanks, love the tool.. I switched to using Firefox because of this! Message 34 of I managed to get it working in Firefox. Is there a way to get it working under Safari using GreaseKit?
I am able to install the script but when reloading the page it does not ask me for the NAS address so it is not possible to use it :. Thnx in advance :. Message 35 of This would be also great if it would be an addon program for Frontview and also would work under Windows Internet Explorer. Thank you. SSH: Enabled. RAM: standard 1GB. FAN: standard. Message 36 of Nice work!
I will test it tonight with some sweet legal downloads from various Linux sites Message 37 of Lover wrote: This would be also great if it would be an addon program for Frontview and also would work under Windows Internet Explorer. That's way outside the scope of this particular project - this script just works with Greasemonkey, which is just for Firefox. The script simply wouldn't work conceptually as an addon in Frontview, since it has to modify each webpage you visit, and that can only be done locally - from your own computer.
Message 38 of This should remove the checkmark from in front of it. That'll disable the script, and once you reload the page the monitor will be gone. You should just have to right-click and re enable it when you want it back. This might be an acceptable stopgap measure for you. Message 39 of Message 40 of This is only too perfect. Message 41 of RoelJewel wrote: I managed to get it working in Firefox.
I tried loading the script in Safari using Greasekit and the instructions provided here , but to no avail. I ended up with what appeared to be an installed script, but no prompt to define the nas address. It'd be great to get it working in Safari--Firefox's scrolling bugs drive me loopy. Message 42 of What am I doing wrong?
Message 43 of I have made several updates to the script. If you have not updated the script in a few months there some ui changes that have been done. Non Firefox users I have added a variable at the beginning of the script that you can set to the url of your readynas. This is to fix the issue people have with browsers like safari that wont prompt you for an address.
I think that this is a bug in the readynas client.
